ice crystals and flakes fall down
covering my deck ...
dashing my hopes and plans
with each white fleck
ice crystals grow heavier;
thin flakes grow thick ...
children's hearts dance and leap
hoping they will stick
ice crystals, like pixie dust
shimmering in the light ...
a blanket of fresh and new
hiding dirt from sight
ice crystals -- talk of the town --
the only news is weather ...
as they fall from the clouds,
families come together
ice crystals halt busy schedules
making time stand still
young and old alike gather
at the window sill
ice crystals -- what can you do?
you just have to smile ...
and maybe you secretly hope
the cold stays for a while
ice crystals will fade soon;
ice will melt away ...
i'll enjoy the peace and quiet
of this rare snow day.
by crystal ;)
