It's that time again... time to put away the beachwear and get out the school supplies and backpacks! Whether you home-school or send your kids to private school or public school, essential oils and natural supplements can help during this busy and exciting (and sometimes stressful) season!
Oils and Blends:
InTune - This is an excellent blend to help students focus and improve attention. Simply roll it on the back of the neck and/or on the bottoms of feet as needed for focus, attention, and learning improvements.
Balance - Don't forget this grounding blend on stressful mornings when everyone's running late and scurrying to get out the door. Diffuse or apply to pulse points or feet to reduce feelings of overwhelm and stress in parents and children alike.
Peppermint - A great choice to help everyone wake up feeling energized. Consider diffusing Peppermint and Wild Orange in the morning and applying Peppermint to the back of your child's neck to improve alertness and mental clarity.
Lemon - For those grumpy afternoons and that "witching hour" before dinner, try diffusing Lemon or Cheer in the kitchen or living room to promote a more joyful atmosphere.
Wild Orange - A great choice for positive, focused mood, try diffusing Wild Orange or applying to the bottoms of your child's feet if he/she feels nervous about school or sad that Summer is coming to an end.
Serenity - Good sleep is important to success in school, so be sure to diffuse or apply Serenity to your wrists and your child's wrists at night. If children have a hard time getting to sleep because they are anxious about school starting, Serenity will help them relax and rest.
Peace - Speaking of anxious, Peace is a great choice to reduce anxious feelings throughout the morning and daytime hours. When children (and parents) feel less anxious about school, they can focus on learning, meeting their teachers, and making new friends.
Motivate - If your kids struggle with the motivation to start or finish homework or schoolwork, try diffusing Motivate before and during these times in the same room where they work.
On Guard - This time of year is when most kids end up getting sick because they're exposed to so many germs at school, so fight back with On Guard! Apply the On Guard Touch to the bottoms of the feet before school each day, and if they do start to feel under the weather, be sure to apply it several times a day, and/or give them On Guard Beadlets (kids over 6).
Rosemary - This is a great choice to help students remember information as they study for a test. Consider diffusing it with Peppermint, Frankincense, and Wild Orange for a beautiful and mentally clarifying blend I call Clearly Everything.
Supplements:
a2z Chewables - these whole-food chewable nutrition supplements for kids (and people who don't like swallowing capsules) help them get all of the minerals, vitamins, and nutrients they need to help their bodies function at their best! Even the best eaters are most likely missing certain nutrients in their diets, so it's important to give them a high-quality supplement to be sure their bodies have what they need.
IQ Mega - Young brains need plenty of omega fatty acids for proper development, concentration, and learning. Don't skip this crucial step in providing the best nutrition for your child.
PB Assist+ Jr. - Take care of students' healthy gut balance with PB Assist+ Jr., which promotes healthy digestion, boosts immune health, and improves moods and emotional health. These candy-like sachets are a favorite of many children; they can just pour them into their mouths or add to water.
Tips and Hacks:
Diluting - to help your oils last longer and protect your children against skin sensitivity, be sure to dilute essential oils with a carrier oil (especially for children under 6 years old). An easy way to be sure your oils are properly diluted is to purchase the Touch version of the oil you need. The Touch line from dōTERRA comes in convenient roller bottles.
Bringing Oils to School - Check with your child's teacher before school begins if possible to see if your school has a certain protocol. Many children are allowed to bring oils to school in their backpacks and use them as needed.
Tie it to a habit! - When using essential oils or taking supplements is tied to a habit like teeth-brushing or eating breakfast, you and your students are more likely to remember to be proactive about these important daily wellness routines.
Spray it on! - To help keep germs at bay, be sure to spray on the On Guard Sanitizing Mist OFTEN! Consider packing a bottle in your child's lunchbox and teaching them to sanitize each day before lunch and after school to protect their little immune systems!
Homework Focus - Apply InTune or diffuse one of the suggestions above for focus during homework time, or try Frankincense Touch applied to wrists and back of the neck to help students focus on their homework.
Bless the Teachers! - Consider blessing your child's teacher(s) with a back to school gift. One suggestion: these simply DIY Lavender Bath Salts to help teachers relax at the end of a tough day of teaching.
